About Alexander Moyle

Alexander Moyle is a Toronto based sculptor who creates permanent exterior and interior public and private artworks, commissions, and temporary installations for diverse settings and environments.  He collaborates with communities, institutions, artists, clients, designers, architects, landscape architects, academics, engineers, scientists, planners, film production designers, art conservators and fabricators.

Classically trained, Moyle is known for fabricating all his artworks, ranging from free standing sculptures, bas reliefs to inventive and expertly engineered mobiles. He uniquely manipulates a broad range of materials and techniques to create an array of forms to sculpt, design, and create meaningful expressive permanent public and private artworks - from the abstract to representational forms - using his expertise in metal casting, ceramics, found and recycled objects, to engage the public and communities.

His approach to his creations is immersive, whether it’s exploring the natural world and environment, scientific realms, observational knowledge, current events, the built environment, or inspirations stemming from the imaginary – stories and dreams. He is alert to all his senses when creating, whether they are visual, aural, or tactile.

Among his large-scale bronze art installations in Toronto is Look What We’ve Achieved!, the Pam McConnell Commemorative Sculpture in Regent Park, at the Pam McConnell Aquatic Centre; and To The River, at Old Mill One and Old Mill Two, on Bloor West. The latter reflects in the urban stream, varied states of the Humber River in abstracted bronze figurative forms – Repose, Navigator and Turbulence.

Other permanent installations can be found throughout the City of Toronto and Ontario.

His drawings, mobiles, sculptures and other artworks have been exhibited in galleries and are found in private collections around the world.

Moyle employs a mastery of skillsets to execute his creations.
